Bedford Blues played their ‘get out of jail’ free card as they picked up a bonus point win over Hartpury in the Greene King IPA Championship on Saturday afternoon.

Leading 26-24 with time up on the clock, the Blues gave away a kickable penalty just inside their 22. Hartpury centre Sam Leeming stepped up, just as he had a few minutes earlier from an almost identical position to add extras from the fourth try for the visitors, but he pulled this attempt wide and handed the Blues the win.

Bedford Blues return to home soil this weekend for another huge challenge in the Greene King IPA Championship against Hartpury College.

The Blues head into the game off the back of three wins over Yorkshire Carnegie, Doncaster Knights and Cornish Pirates, who they defeated 29-30 at Mennaye Field on Sunday.

But Beford know that they certainly won't have everything their own way this weekend as the visitors gave the Blues two epic games last season and have started this campaign in fine form picking up some impressive victories along the way.

Bedford Blues return home this Satuday 27th October to face Hartpury at Goldington Road, following a crucial one-point victory away at Cornish Pirates last weekend (KO 3pm).

The Blues have shown great resilience in the past two weeks to carve out successive single point victories in their outings against Doncaster Knights and Pirates to elevate them to fifth in the Greene King IPA Championship.

The visitors, Hartpury, have endured a tough start to the season and arrive in town on a four-game losing streak. However, Mike Rayer’s men will be aware of the threat the West Countrymen pose after scraping a narrow 21-26 victory at the College last time the two met.

Bedford Blues put in an extraordinary display at the Mennaye Field on Sunday afternoon to pick up a hugely important 29-30 win over the Cornish Pirates in the Green King IPA Championship.

Tries from Rich Lane, Ryan Hutler and Dean Adamson along with 12 points from the boot of Will Hooley and a thunder-like penalty from Lewis Robling sealed the win, but the Blues defence was tested until the very final second of the game.

Bedford got an early opportunity when Will Hooley’s kick-off was knocked on, but the Pirates defended with plenty of grit following the scrum and the Blues just weren’t able to make the most of the early possession.

Bedford Blues have named their 22-man squad which will take on the Cornish Pirates at the Mennaye Field on Sunday afternoon in the Greene King IPA Championship.

This weekend's game will be the first of three clashes between the two sides before Christmas as they prepare to face off in league and cup competitions.

The Blues versus the Pirates is rarely a dull affair, and much will be expected when third meet fourth in Penzance.

Ladies Day 2018 at Bedford Blues was another huge success in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

As well as many successful fundraising efforts, including hospitality competitions, donate your plastic eco cups and auction, there was of course a raffle!

There were a few unclaimed prizes which we urge winning fans to contact the club with their matching raffle tickets. Please find details below:

There was an enormous collective sigh of relief at Goldington Road on Saturday afternoon as the Blues picked up a 29-28 win over Doncaster Knights.

Having led 17-0 at the break, the game headed into the 11th minute of stoppage time with just a solitary point separating the teams and the Knights on the attack. Solid defence finally saw the ball drop to the floor and Lewis Robling had the honour of tapping the ball into touch as the home fans erupted in applause.

Huge credit has to go to the visiting Knights who looked forlorn at the break, but regathered and provided an enthralling second half.

Bedford Blues will be turning pink and green this weekend when they welcome Doncaster Knights in the Championship at Goldington Road.

After returning to winning ways with a 21-28 victory over Yorkshire Carnegie, Mike Rayer's men will be looking to follow that result up with a good performance in front of what is sure to be a bumper crowd enjoying the annual Ladies Day at Goldington Road.

Now in its 11th year, Ladies Day sees the Blues raising much needed funds for MacMillan Cancer Support with a range of on and off field activities including an auction for fans to win one of the unique shirts worn by the players on the day.

Bedford Blues have launched their one-off pink and green strip ahead of the annual Ladies Day fixture at Goldington Road this Saturday (KO 3pm).  To make a silent bid for one of the jerseys click here.
