Two early penalties gave the Blues a great attacking platform and despite a lineout drive not kicking into gear, Lee Dickson saw men outside and spread the ball wide for Ryan Hutler to dot down for an unconverted score.

Bedford Blues make six changes as they look to return to winning ways in the Greene King IPA Championship when they visit London Scottish on Saturday afternoon.

It was a case of 'close but no cigar' for the Blues against London Irish last weekend as they were defeated by three points in a thrilling game at Goldington Road.

Of course, the word thrilling really does apply to Bedford's last visit to London Scottish in December 2017 when the sides drew 52 all in a truly remarkable game.

Bedford Blues put in one heck of a performance against league leaders London Irish on Saturday afternoon but the Exiles managed to hang on to pick up a 23-26 win.

Bedford Blues crashed out of the Championship Cup on Sunday afternoon as they were well beaten by Yorkshire Carnegie at Emerald Headingley.

A first half blitz from the hosts saw them lead 26-0 at the interval and despite second half tries from Ryan Hutler and Pat Tapley, the hosts equalled the scoring to seal a 38-14 win and a place in the final four.

Carnegie got the game off to a near perfect start as they dominated the ball and scored within five minutes. Jacob Umaga sent a kick high in the air which Elijah Nike gathered. He sprinted forward before the ball came out to Richard Mayhew who scored with Umaga adding the extras.

Bedford Blues make the trip up to Yorkshire Carnegie this weekend looking for a semi-final spot in the Championship Cup.

Following what can only be described as one of the most thrilling games of Championship rugby against Coventry last weekend, Bedford have regathered their breath and will be looking for another victory to send them into the final four of the cup.
