The Blues Academy kick off the second half of their season when they travel to play Ealing Trailfinders on Saturday.  The game will be played on Ealing’s new 3G synthetic pitch as a curtain raiser to Ealing 1st XV’s league game with Wharfedale.  Ealing, who were relegated from the Championship at the end of last season, are leading the National One League table and pushing for promotion back to the Championship next season.

Bedford make six changes to the starting lineup that beat Shelford U21 before Christmas.  In the pack Ben Wilkinson moves from hooker to prop with Garth Spencer starting at hooker; Sam Copeland comes into the 2nd row, and Ollie Robinson returns from injury at flanker.  In the back line Ben Meaden returns from injury in the centre alongside Cameron Gregory-Ring, and Scott Lyle returns on the wing. On the bench hooker Dan Hostetler (Stowe School and SW England) and centre Ryan Hutler (Wisbech School) make their debuts, whilst flanker Harry Agnew, fly half Roddy Giles and full back George Silk return from injury.

The game is at Trailfinders Sports Club, Vallis Way, West Ealing. London, W13 0DD and kicks off at 12 noon.

Bedford Academy Director, Denis Ormesher, said … “It will be good to get back into action after a three week break.  We have a number of players coming back from injury, and some new players joining us, so settling back into our game plan early will be important.  Playing on the synthetic pitch will be a good experience, and ideal at this time of the year.”
