After weeks of disruption due to the weather, and a number of cancelled games, the Blues Academy return to action this Saturday, March 1st, when they welcome the Loughborough University U21 XV to Goldington Road, KO 2.00 pm.

With the Blues away at Moseley, Bedford supporters have the chance to support the Academy at home - Kick Off is 2.00 pm, the bar is open, all are welcome.

This will be the second game against Loughborough University U21s this season, with the Blues losing the game at Loughborough in November by 29pts - 15.

Bedford select a large squad to give as many players as possible some game time.  Dan Lewis, selected this week for the England U18 Clubs & Schools XV starts at fly half, George Elliott moves to full back; hooker Tom Duggan, who played for England U18 Clubs & Schools last season, 2nd row Zak Farrance and flanker Lennie Bush (both Oaklands and ex-Saracens) make their debuts from the bench.

Academy Director, Denis Ormesher, said .... "After such a long break from playing the guys are all raring to go.  It will be six weeks since our last game.  We have missed some training sessions, and have had to train on an Astroturf pitch for others.  We have selected a bigger squad than normal to give as many payers as possible some much needed game time.  They have trained well over the last few weeks but there is no substitue for competitive games.  Loughborough University will provide a tough test.  Games like this against older, more physical sides, are great development opportunities for us to test ourselves against."
