***Bedford have been forced in to a very late change after Jacob Fields was ruled out of today's game. Tadgh McElroy will now start with Charlie Clare coming onto he replacements bench***

Championship rugby returns to Goldington Road this weekend as Bedford Blues take on London Scottish at 3pm on Saturday.

There was a bumper points haul between the two teams last season with 174 in total over two games including the quite ridiculous 52-52 draw at the Athletic Ground just before Christmas.

Looking ahead to the weekend's game, Blues Forwards Coach Alex Rae said: "We've had a couple of really tough weeks on the road with trips to Coventry and London Irish so it will certainly be nice to be back in front of our fans at Goldington Road.

"We were very disappointed not to come away with something against London Irish last weekend as the boys should a huge amount of determination and really dug in against the former Premiership side. Sadly, we'd left it a little bit late but the lads deserve a huge amount of credit for their performance.

"London Scottish will be a huge challenge this weekend and we know we will be in for another big fight. They've made a lot of changes both on and off the field and will be high in confidence having overcome Jersey Reds last weekend.

"We've had a bit of a short turnaround, but the lads have been superb in training this week and everyone is eager to get back out on the field and return to winning ways."

The Blues were struck a huge blow during last weekend's 29-20 defeat to London Irish when prop Camilo Parilli-Ocampo broke his right tibia at the start of the second half along with winger Harry Davies having to go off with head injury. But there was also good news in the lead-up to Saturday's game with fly half Jacob Atkins joining the Blues from London Irish to provide extra cover for Will Hooley and Harry Sheppard who are both still out.

Bedford make several changes to the team that faced London Irish last weekend with Dean Adamson and Lee Dickson returning to the backs while Sean McCarthy and Alex Penny come into the front row and Will Carrick-Smith returns. Prop Hayden King could make his Blues debut from the bench as could Atkins who is also named as a replacement.
