BLUES INTRODUCE NEW ECO CUP SCHEME

As the first home Championship match of the season fast approaches this weekend, Bedford Blues are delighted to introduce their new collectable Eco Cup scheme at Goldington Road.

The new environmentally friendly pint cups, produced by Green Goblet, will be launched at this Saturday’s match against Jersey Reds at a cost of £1. The cups can be continually used, kept or recycled to the bar in exchange for your £1 refundable deposit.

The Club have scrapped the traditional plastic cups to launch the new initiative in partnership with the Eagle Brewery, now owned by Marstons. The Eco Cups have also been supported by club sponsors Carter Sullivan and Bluegreen Design who also shared the new greener vision.

Blues branded Eco Cups will be served in all match day bars with a special Legends Series in circulation this season. In total there are seven different designs with a general Legends group cup followed by six individual Legend cups. The first two will be launched this Saturday so keep an eye out!

The collectable cups can be returned at three points in the ground; Blues Marquee, Scrum Bar and Eagle Bar, head to the signposted area for returns or ask staff. Only a maximum of 20 cups returned at any point permitted (we know we have thirsty fans).

Blues Chief Operating Officer, Gareth Alred said: “We are excited to launch the new Eco Cups this weekend, as a club we feel that it is incredibly important to protect and look after our environment and the community that support us.

“Not just for the green impact, but we also feel the innovative ‘Legend Series’ designs will become a fan favourite with supporters collecting them across the season.

“It’s been a long time in coming so we must thank the patience of our fantastic suppliers Green Goblet as well as the support of the Eagle Brewery, Carter Sullivan and Bluegreen Design who will all feature on the new eco cup.”

Green Goblet are an environmentally friendly company that produces Green Cups ideal for stadiums, festivals and sporting arenas. Fellow rugby clubs; Northampton Saints, Exeter Chiefs, Leicester Tigers and Doncaster Knights have used the Green Goblet pint cup initiative.
