BLUES RAISE RECORD LADIES DAY DONATION

Bedford Blues were absolutely delighted to present another record-breaking cheque, this year for £10,000, to Macmillan Cancer Support at last Friday night’s match following another incredible Ladies Day on Saturday 13th October.

The Blues definitely made Ladies Day 2018 one for the books, with an incredible performance on the pitch, grinding out a 29-28 victory over Doncaster Knights. However, the day was about more than just rugby, raising a huge amount for a wonderful cause.

This was the club’s second year raising money for our Cancer Charity Partner; Macmillan Cancer Support. The Blues faithful helped the club to raise the staggering amount of funds through collections, auctions, raffles and much much more.

As always, the Special Edition match day jerseys proved incredibly popular and all of them were sold at auction, whether that be in the ever-popular post game live auction in the Blues Marquee, or through the online bidding system.

With the help of the fantastic Macmillan volunteers, and of course our loyal supporters, Goldington Road was transformed in to an odyssey of pink and green for the day which saw us yet again, smash the record for the amount of funds raised.

A special mention must go to the Blues’ main shirt sponsor Blue Chip, who kindly donated £1,000 to Macmillan in support of Ladies Day 2018.

The club would also like to say a huge thank you to all of the sponsors who both supported and provided prizes on the day, in particular 5th Avenue Hair & Beauty who provided treatments throughout the afternoon to many of the lovely ladies who visited the Marquee.

Bedford Blues Chief Operating Officer, Gareth Alred, said: “Once again we would like to thank all of our fantastic supporters at Goldington Road on helping us to make Ladies Day 2018 the best yet.

“As always the marquee was a hive of activity throughout the day, we must thank our incredible sponsors and partners who helped make the event such a huge success. To raise this record amount of £10,000 for a charity close to many of our hearts is truly amazing and demonstrates the generosity of our wonderful club and Blues family.

“Macmillan Cancer Support were fantastic to work with again, well done on their amazing efforts, we are pleased to support the great work they do in our community.”
