BLUES SEARCH FOR MEDIA AND MARKETING INTERN
Bedford Blues are seeking a Media and Marketing Intern for the 2014/15 season as the club looks to build momentum on and off the field to help improve their communications output.
The role will give the successful applicant the opportunity to work within the professional sporting environment of a Greene King IPA Championship Club for an eight to twelve month period, on a 4 day a week basis including match-days.
The position will give the chosen intern an opportunity to experience life in a fast-moving industry and would ideally suit a student looking to fill a long-term work placement, or a recent graduate looking to break into sports media and marketing.
Duties will include:
- Writing articles and copy to update the official website, populate the match day programme, helping design and compose email output as well as all commercial and marketing literature.
- Assisting the communications team with the external press and coordinating news stories with the coaches and players.
- Assisting the Operations, Commercial and Media Managers during the week and on match-days
- General PR and Marketing administration
The suitable candidate will possess excellent writing skills, strong IT competencies, a good eye for detail and have the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines. Experience in journalism and/or marketing would be beneficial, and knowledge of Bedford Blues and rugby union in general is preferable, but by no means essential.
The role will involve working at weekends and some unsocial hours.
This is an excellent opportunity to build a significant portfolio in media and marketing, as well as working for an ambitious sporting club looking to raise its profile and strive to be the ‘Pride of Bedford’.
To apply, send a covering letter and CV to Gareth Alred, Operations Manager, Bedford Blues, Goldington Rd, Bedford, MK40 3NF or email your application to firstname.lastname@example.org
Closing date for applications is Friday 25th July 2014.
Please note: This is an unpaid role suited to someone looking for an opportunity to launch a career in sports media and marketing. The position is designed to be part-time (4 days a week including match-day), but hours can be suited to the successful applicant's circumstances.
