BOOJ NAMED CAPTAIN ONCE AGAIN

Bedford Blues are delighted to confirm that Michael Le Bourgeois has been named captain at Goldington Road for a second season.

Booj, as he is known to fans and teammates alike, moved from Jersey to Bedford in 2013 and quickly established himself as one of the leading players both on and off the Goldington Road pitch.

Speaking exclusively to Bedfordshire on Sunday, Le Bourgeois said: "I'm very proud, as I was last year having been given the honour of leading the boys out. I'm over the moon and can't wait to get started. We're back in preseason, we've had a few weeks of it and can't wait for the season to get underway.

"Training itself has been superb. It's been a great start with a lot of enthusiasm from the old heads as well as the youngsters. They're pushing each other and we can only get better. There's a lot of positivity about the group this year and everyone's itching to show what they've got."

Looking ahead to the forthcoming Championship campaign, he added: "This year, it's take each game as it comes. I'm sure that not many teams are going to want to play against us with the style and the way we like to play and move about.

"It's getting harder and harder each year with the Championship. Teams are stepping up but so are we.

"The signings made show ambition, it shows a club which is not here to settle. Everyone's trying to improve and it's not just with the likes of Lee Dickson and Chris Czekaj. We've got the likes of Alex Rae coming back, Paul Tupai's still here and we've got Tom Lindsay as well along with some seriously talented players.

"We're able to mix people who've got all the experience from higher levels with youth coming up. Everyone's learning off each other and the team's looking very strong at the moment.

"We are a team who likes to move [the ball], it's well known, and everyone's buying into that. You've got to be happy and enjoy the sport and everyone's settling in well. The boys are gelling and there's a lot of bonding going on as you'd expect."

*Kind thanks to Bedfordshire on Sunday*
