Bedford Blues are thrilled to announce that winger Dean Adamson has signed a new deal to remain at Goldington Road for the 2018/19 Championship season.

To say that Dean has been in sparking form this season would be an understatement as the winger, who turned 25 today, has racked up a superb 16 tries in the Championship alone this campaign as well as helping the Blues reach the semi-final of the British & Irish Cup with six tries.

Speaking about the re-signing, Blues Director of Rugby Mike Rayer said: "Dean has really had a stellar season so far and while his scoring prowess is visable for all to see, it’s his work on the front line in defence and as part of the back field pendulum that’s stood out for all us coaches. The thing is, Dean knows his game now and understands that he can get even better in the years ahead.

"It will be no surprise to know that Dean had a range of offers on the table from a host of clubs, but he is a Bedfordshire boy who loves the style of rugby that we play and knows that he’ll get to play in front of big home crowds. We're all excited about finishing this campaign on a high and Dean has a vital role to play in that."

Adamson joined Bedford at the beginning of the 2014/15 season after a successful period at Ampthill Rugby Club saw him notch up an impressive 22 tries making him the most prolific try scorer in National Two South. The Bedford boy, who came through the Blues Academy, was on trial with Bedford and played in pre-season friendlies before heading back to Dillingham Park. A permanent move came during the following summer and Adamson has truly seized the opportunity with both hands and taken the chance to prove what a special talent he is.

Commenting on signing his new deal, Adamson said: "I'm really pleased to have re-signed with the Blues and I'm looking forward to continuing the great work that we've doen this season. I've had four great seasons at Goldington Road, learnt a lot and I'm excited about paying back all of the coaches who have put their faith in me and the fans who come out to support us week in, week out."

Dean Adamson joins the growing numbers at Goldington Road for the 2018/19 campaign along with new signings Charlie Clare and Hayden King as well as the re-signings of Rich Lane, Will Carrick-Smith, Harry Sheppard, Josh Buggea, Will Hooley, Ed Taylor and Michael Le Bourgeois. Lee Dickson, Alex Rae, Jarad Williams, Chris Czekaj, Sean McCarthy and Ben Cooper are already contracted for next season.
