Just one week on from their agonising British and Irish Cup opening round defeat against Cornish Pirates the Blues are looking to bounce straight back as they welcome Welsh Principality side Cross Keys to Goldington Road tomorrow afternoon for what is also the annual Ladies Day game.

Bedford have enjoyed some cracking encounters against Welsh sides in this competition and Saturday will be no exception with the added spice of former Cross Keys man Steffan Jones now turning out for the Blues.

"It's going to be a lot of fun for me and I'm sure that a few of my pals will being looking forward to giving me a hard time," said Jones who helped Cross Keys reach the Cup final in 2012(?).

"I have some fantastic memories from my time with the Keys but i'm now making new memories with the Blues and loving every minute of my time here.

"Last week was a hugely attritional game and everyone was gutted to have lost in the fashion that we did against the Pirates. Taking two bonus points was a small consolation but we are disappointed not to have taken all five. We have brushed ourselves down though, identified where things didn't go as well as planned and now we have the opportunity to put things right in front of the home supporters on Ladies Day which I am told is a hugely popular fixture at Goldington Road.

"While Saturday will be quite an experience for me personally I also know that I, and the entire squad, have a job to do and getting the Blues a win is the most important thing."

Following the defeat to Cornish Pirates, Blues Director of Rugby Mike Rayer makes a host of changes to the starting line-up with James Pritchard, Darrell Dyer, Peter White, Charlie Clare, James Currie, Mike Howard and Paul Tupai all coming into the starting XV.

Ladies Day means that it is two for one entry for all ladies on the day with gates opening at midday giving the female of the species plenty of time to enjoy complimentary rosé wine and canapés in the Blues marquee.

A host of other treats will be available throughout the day including £5 beauty treatments courtesy of 5th Avenue, live music from the fabulous Mark Calder, cupcakes and a chocolate fountain. There will also be many opportunities to get your hands on some exclusive prizes through the Cancer Research UK raffle, auction and best-dressed competition following the match with the superb Sam Roberts as your Blues MC.

And as if that wasn't enough, Bedford Blues very own Nos’s Nosh will be matching our generosity by offering ladies an additional two for one benefit on all main meals. Pop along to the catering outlet in the Scrum Bar to see Nos and take advantage of his ‘buy one get one free’ meals, costing just an incredible £6 (first come first served). Meals will include homemade beef chilli, beef in Guinness and liver or a variety of other great options, but hurry service stops at 2:30pm!

Tickets for the match are available to purchase online or on the gate on Saturday with the ladies option only applying on the day. Don’t miss out on a great event in aid of a very worthy charity and get yourself down to Goldington Road this weekend to cheer on the Blues.
