MATCH PREVIEW V DONCASTER KNIGHTS

Bedford Blues will run out for the first time in three weeks when they welcome Doncaster Knights to Goldington Road on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues were denied a fixture last weekend when the so-called 'Beast from the East part two' descended on Nottingham leaving the pitch unplayable. The postponement meant that Bedford had not been in action since Saturday 3rd March when they defeated Yorkshire Carnegie 41-22.

Looking ahead to the clash with Doncaster, Blues Director of Rugby Mike Rayer said: “Whilst the breaks in the fixture list aren’t ideal, it’s certainly given us plenty of opportunity to work on improving areas of our game and also helped get a few players over some niggles. The lads are now desperate to get out there, get some meaningful action under their belts and hopefully, get some consistency in performances as there is still so much left to play for between now and the end of the season.”

Bedford name exactly the same team that was due to face Nottingham last weekend with Rich Lane starting at fullback while Huw Worthington gets the nod at openside flanker. There's also a welcome return to the bench for fly half Harry Sheppard who, should he come one, will be making his first appearance since picking up a knock during the British & Irish Cup encounter against Ospreys back in January.
