It will be 'Friday Night Lights' for Bedford Blues players and fans tomorrow evening when they welcome Yorkshire Carnegie to Goldington Road.
The Blues ran in two superb tries against Worcester Warriors last Friday but it wasn't enough to stop the former Premiership side racking up a 42-12 victory at Sixways. Despite the defeat, there was a huge improvement on the field, something that pleased Blues Director of Rugby Mike Rayer.
“Although we lost the game I was pleased with a lot of aspects of the performance,” he said. “We have to ensure that we take all of the positives from the display against Worcester and carry them into tomorrow night's game against Carnegie who are also looking to bounce back from defeat last weekend.
“We have been struggling with injuries over the last few weeks and we have also had to have a rethink following Steffan Jones call up to the Welsh 7’s squad. Thankfully Saracens have come to our aid and have loaned us Nils Mordt for this week and he comes straight onto the bench to provide some extra cover at fly half.
“The mood in the camp is very positive and the guys are all working extremely hard to get back to winning ways. It is clear that the desire and ability is there, we just have to carry that onto the pitch.”
Bedford make two changes to the starting line-up for tomorrow's game with Nick Fenton-Wells returning to captain the team from openside flanker while Charlie Clare starts at hooker. Jared Saunders and Josh Buggea move to the bench where they are joined by new signing Nils Mordt and Henry Staff.
