This summer Bedford Blues Community team will be hosting not one, but two big pre-season rugby camps in August for children of all ages at Goldington Road.

The first camp will be a four-day rugby extravaganza from Monday 21st to Thursday 24th August under our new coaching direction being rolled out across the region; ‘Learn to Play the Blues way’.

This exciting new project will allow children to experience the Blues rugby, culture and values whilst being coached and led by current Bedford Blues first team players. The ‘Blues’ way will focus on the below five core principles.

The second camp, running between Tuesday 29th and 31st August, will centre around a pre-season training schedule to prepare youngers for the rugby season ahead. The focus will be on skill development alongside the normal format of the day, including conditioned games, upskilling the basics or catch and pass, kicking, speed, agility and fitness activities.

Commenting on the camps, Head of Community Ben Gulliver added: "Last year’s summer camps were a huge success and we are hoping for a similar turnout this year. Our coaches will again be a selection of first team players who they will get to see running out at Goldington Road in the season. As a group of coaches’ they are going through extensive training to deliver the specialist camps and coach the Blues way.

“As a team we are known for our exciting brand of rugby and we want the children in the local community to have the opportunity to experience our core values and enjoy everything Bedford Blues."
