TWO DAY RUGBY & BEER FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND
The now annual Bedford Blues Rugby and Beer Festival takes place this weekend on Friday night and all day Saturday. Two of the town’s great institutions come together once again to host a bigger and better two dayer at Goldington Road.
While there is nothing better than watching Bedford take on Northampton Saints on the rugby field, the experience can always be improved and this weekend both sets of fans will be able to enjoy top-class rugby alongside some of the finest ales.
Following the success of the Guest Ale Series and first two Beer Festivals, the Blues have teamed up with Charles Wells to offer a two-day mini festival of the greatest sport and the best beers; including Eagle IPA, Bombardier, Burning Gold, Courage Best, Courage Directors, Young's Bitter, Young's Special, Young's London Gold, Firsty 15, McEwans IPA, Adnams Southwold, Black Sheep, Wadworth 6X, My Generation, Hook Norton Lion, Joseph Holts Two Hoots, Butcombe Bitter, St Austell Proper Job, amongst others.
The festival gets underway on Friday night in the Blues Marquee when Mike Rayer’s men face local rivals and Premiership giants, Northampton Saints. Gates open at 5pm giving the Goldington Road faithful plenty of time to sample some of the best beers around before the game kicks off at 7.45pm. Entrance via the side of the marquee.
The following day it’ll be much of the same on the beer front, but this time the rugby entertainment will come courtesy of the big screen and plasma TVs as this year’s Six Nations Championship comes to a crescendo. Doors will be opening at Midday with Scotland taking on Italy just 30 minutes later. At 2.45pm it will be time for live coverage of France v Wales before the Grand Slam match as England travel to Ireland in search of a clean sweep. Kick Off from the Aviva Stadium will be 5pm. Scotland versus Ireland while the day will be rounded off at 5pm when England take on France live from Twickenham.

Entry to the Friday night beer festival is included in the price of your Bedford Blues v Northampton Saints match day or season ticket but there will be a small charge for a ‘Bedford Blues beer glass. Whilst Saturday will be free entry to all, with food available to buy or bring your own, we just ask you buy a glass and finish our beer at reduced prices.
