Bedford Blues rounded off the pool stages of the Championship Cup with a hard fought win over Hartpury on Saturday afternoon.

A brace of tries for Dean Adamson either side of a Jarad Williams score was enough for the Blues to pick up their third win in the competition, but it was a true all round squad performance in challenging conditions that ensured the victory.

The weather may have been miserable but the Blues started brightly as they set up camp in the Hartpury 22 winning a penalty from a scrum. Touch was found, but the Blues couldn't capitalise and the home side rallied well to deny any scoring opportunity.

Last weekend's bonus point win over Cornish Pirates ensured that the Blues have qualified for the knockout stages, but Mike Rayer's men won't be taking their foot off the gas as they look to build once again.

Bedford Blues hopes of reaching the knockout stages of the Championship Cup were given a boost when they picked up a bonus point win over the Cornish Pirates on Saturday afternoon.

Two tries for Dean Adamson and one each from Ed Coulson and Pat Tapley secured the important bonus point, but a final flurry from the Pirates made for a squeaky finish as they scored three tries in eight minutes but ran out of time for the most unlikeliest of comebacks as the Blues held on to win 27-17.

With the game being the last home fixture for Bedford before Christmas, there is bound to be a festive feel around Goldington Road, but the Blues certainly won't be in a giving move when the referee's whistle blows at 3pm.

Bedford Blues hopes of progressing form the pool stages of the Championship Cup were dented on Saturday afternoon as they went down 11-36 to London Irish.

The Blues got off to a great start and were leading at the break, but 26 unanswered second half points saw the Exiles run away with victory and maintained their top of the pool table status.
