It is with great sadness that the Club have been informed that former player Dominic Wyer-Roberts passed away suddenly on Saturday afternoon, aged just 45.

The thoughts of all at Bedford Blues are with his wife Kate, daughter Grace and sons Augustus and Fabian.

Dom, who played in the second row, made 40 appearances for the first team between 1993-95. He also played once in 1989 as a pupil from Bedford School.

One of Bedford’s most celebrated former players and ex England captain Budge Rogers has released a biography that will be on sale in the Blues Club Shop at the first league match of the season this Saturday v London Scottish (KO 3pm).

The match day also hosts the annual FPA Autumn Lunch with Budge in attendance and available to sign any books purchased as well as speak on the mic in the pre-game build up.

All of Budge’s share of the proceeds are being donated to the RFU Injured Players’ Fund.

Bedford Blues kicked off their Greene King IPA Championship campaign with a bonus point 7-36 win over Richmond on Saturday evening.

Seven months ago, on their last visit to Richmond Athletic Ground, Bedford were on the wrong end of a 49-26 score line which left the entire squad feeling, well, blue.

This time though, it was all smiles as a dominating attacking performance in the first half was complimented with a strong defensive display in the second to ensure that demons were banished and the Blues got off to the best possible start.

With the waiting finally over and the Greene King IPA Championship season upon us, Bedford Blues have named their team to take on Richmond at 5pm on Saturday evening.

After an enthralling pre-season campaign that saw the Blues pick up good wins over Plymouth Albion and Blackheath as well as a cracking run-out against European Champions Saracens, Bedford are all geared up for the season ahead.

While last season's visit to Richmond Athletic Ground is one that the Blues will want to forget, a much different Blues team will take to the field this time around to start the new campaign in style.

Bedford Blues are delighted to announce five new players who are joining the Blues Academy Development Squad for the 2017/18 season.

They have trained all the summer pre-season with the Blues first team squad, with their Strength & Conditioning programmes being overseen by Sean Vine, the Blues S&C coach.  If they are not playing for the Blues, they will play with a partner club in the National Leagues where they will have the opportunity to develop by playing regular league rugby.

The opening home match of the new Greene King IPA Championship season is only 10 days away as Bedford Blues welcome London Scottish to Goldington Road in our family fun day on Saturday 9th September (Kick Off 3pm). Save £4 and book tickets online here.

Following an impressive pre-season campaign Mike Rayer’s men are champing at the bit for league action in what promises to be an exciting campaign with a first look at some of the new faces in competitive rugby against a Scottish outfit featuring four former Blues players.

Bedford Blues are delighted to announce that Northampton Saints second rower Jordan Onojaife, has joined the club once again for the coming season.

Standing at 196cm and weighing in at 118kg, Onojaife, 22,  initially joined Bedford on loan for the second half of last season's Championship campaign and made a lasting impression with players, coaches and fans alike.

Bedford completed their pre-season fixtures with a hard fought victory over a dogged Blackheath side who certainly weren't going to let the Blues have everything their own any.

Bedford took a two try lead early on, but the hosts fired back with three good scores to lead at the break. But Blackheath could do little to prevent the Blues second half juggernaut which crossed the line four times without reply.

Good luck this weekend to the Blues Academy Development Squad players who are in action for the Blues and for their partner clubs.

Second row Ben Kelland and winger Ryan Hutler both start for the Blues in the final pre-season warm-up game away at Blackheath.

Full back Joe Green and flanker Joe Britton both start for Cambridge away vs Bishop's Stortford, whilst centre Matt Riddington starts at 12 for Bishop's Stortford against them.

Meanwhile, 12,000 miles away, Dan Lewis is starting at 10 for North Otago away to Horowhenua-Kapiti in first round of Heartlands Mitre Championship.

Bedford Blues have named their squad to take on Blackheath in their final pre-season friendly ahead of the 2017/18 Championship campaign.

Following a bruising encounter against European Champions Saracens last weekend, Bedford make wholesale changes to the starting line-up as they look to finish their preparations for the new season with a flurry.

With a few niggling injuries, Bedford welcome Tongan number eight Sione Vailanu into the squad for this weekend's game. The big back rower represented Tonga at Under 20s, but has recently been pulling on a Japanese jersey as part of their sevens set up.
