Posted: 4th February 2020
It’s time for our annual Rugby and Ale Weekender as Blues lock horns with old rivals Coventry under the Friday night lights in Round 12 of the Championship this weekend (KO 7:45pm).

Mike Rayer’s troops will be hoping to pick up where they left off, following a last second try and conversion to seal victory over Jersey Reds last Saturday.
The Blues have started 2020 in fine form and will be aiming to make it three home wins on the trot as fourth-placed Coventry arrive this Friday. Rising to ninth position in dramatic fashion last weekend as they grabbed all five points, Bedford will be looking to continue their ascent; sitting just one point behind seventh placed Doncaster Knights.
Bedford will, however, be expecting a tough test from Rowland Winter’s men, who visit town following an impressive home victory over Cornish Pirates and remain in the league’s top four.
Off the field, the much-anticipated clash will also host the Blues’ annual Real Ale Festival. Be sure to try one or two of the 15 ales on offer inside the Blues Marquee. The wide selection includes; a specially brewed Blues Legends Ale, home favourite Eagle IPA, Parallax IPA, Black Sheep Pale Ale, Ram Tackle, Wychwood Dirty Tackle, Marston’s Old Empire IPA, Courage Directors, Young’s Cityscape, Brakspear Oxford Gold, Ringwood Old Thumper, Razor Back, Jennings Cumberland, Hobgoblin Gold and Banana Bread Beer. Gates open from 5pm leaving plenty of time for you to grab a match programme and enjoy the Friday night atmosphere!
Fancy letting someone else cook for you on Friday night? This is your last chance to book into marquee hospitality for just £24pp (excluding match ticket). Enjoy a delicious two-course dinner, entertainment, games and exclusive access to the beer festival. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org to book.
This week’s Optimis Consulting Guard of Honour join us from one of our partner schools; Bedford Modern School. Please give them a loud cheer as they welcome the players to the field alongside the Bedford Bear.
Visit the mini supporter village between the SDC Suite and Former Players on the north-east side of the ground. Spectators will this Friday night find our Trailer Bar, the Coffee & Cake Horsebox and Blues Community stand. There will be a Passing Challenge before kick-off, with a spot on the February Half-Term Rugby Camp the reward for the winner! Find out more here.
After the game join MC Sam Roberts for the Anglian Fasteners’ Man of the Match in the Marquee, mix with players and listen to live music with the returning Leon Bratt.
Before you leave, pop into the Club Shop, located next to the entrance to the Blues Marquee, and check out all of our latest leisurewear items including a new range of Bedford Blues OddBalls merchandise, from underwear to umbrellas!
