London Lunch 2022
![]()
A very special occasion for the Former Players Association took place on Friday, 4th February when, after the reunion was impossible in 2021, members were again able to meet in London.
This year the excellent venue was the Naval and Military Club in St. James’s Square. Despite pandemic restrictions, repercussions, and concerns resulting in the absence of several familiar faces, approximately 60 former players attended. They represented players from seven decades of the Blues. Quite an achievement! There was a table of players from the professional era, which was encouraging, as we want them to continue to be involved even if they move clubs.
The M.C. on this occasion was former player Ian Peck, who began by asking those present to ‘raise a glass’ in memory of the several former players who had passed away since the last London function.
Ian then invited Bedford legend Budge Rogers to join him for a Question and Answer session, which was both very entertaining and interesting. Thank you both!
Our appreciation must also go to Richard Glasspool for organising the venue. The location, the meal, and the service were all excellent. Finally, or thanks to John Cooley, the FPA secretary, for his hard work in managing to get so many former players to attend in difficult circumstances.
A great time was had by all!
