Obituary - Chris Venn
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of former player Chris Venn at the age of 48.
Chris joined the Blues Family through the Mini Junior section and went on to rise through the age groups to play for the 1st XV and the Wanderers between 1989 and 1992.
He also played at Rushden & Higham RUFC, Reigate RFC and Old Reigatian RFC. Never afraid to travel, he always took his boots with him and played club rugby across the pond in the United States, France and Italy. His time in the Azzurri must have had an impact as he brought a certain casual elegance (sprezzatura, as the Italians would say) to Blues Former Player luncheons, often wearing a tailored three-piece suit and a bow tie.
Chris was schooled at Sharnbrook under the tutelage of former Blues; Dave Jackson, John Clemence, Howard Harries and Mark Upex.
He will be sadly missed by his wife and young daughter, along with his wider family, friends and all that knew him.
