OBITUARY | Hazel Webb

Posted: 21st May 2024

It is with deep regret that the club must share the sad news of the recent passing of longstanding supporter, Hazel Webb at the age of 94.

Hazel and her husband, Maurice - who was made a life member of the club - were great stalwarts of Bedford Blues and were influential figures at Goldington Road for many years.

Instrumental in early fundraising efforts for the club, most notably the 1975 Canada Tour which celebrates it's 50th anniversary next year, Hazel gave up countless hours in support of Bedford's premier sporting club.

Her effort and hardwork is unquestionable, organising numerous discos, jumble sales and many other events as part of her fundraising campaign. She will be sorely missed by all those were knew her, and Bedford Blues owe her and Maurice a great deal of gratitude.

If you would like to pay your respects to Hazel, her family have invited Blues supporters and friends to join them at Bedford Crematorium on Monday 3rd June at 2:30pm, followed by refreshments at The Swan Hotel on the Embankment.

The thoughts of everyone associated with Bedford Blues are with the family and friends of Hazel at this time.
