Match Focus: Ampthill on Ladies Day
Posted: 1st October 2019
Bedford Blues return home this Saturday 5th October to face near neighbours Ampthill in the annual Ladies Day in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support (KO 3pm).
As has become tradition the Blues will be turning pink for the day to raise funds for Macmillan and Breast Cancer. To make a silent bid for one of the starting jerseys, click here.
Ladies will gain match day entry on a ‘Buy One Get One Free’ basis this Saturday at the gate only, for all other ticket purchases and to save £4, buy online here.
In an enormous clash, it is not just Pink Day bragging rights up for grabs on the field, with local pride at stake and Championship Cup knockout places hanging in the balance with only a win needed!
Ampthill have enjoyed a titanic rise to Level Two, but with neither side registering a win in the first two rounds after tough encounters against big spending Ealing and Coventry, this game takes on even more importance to both clubs. The Blues will be needing a strong and loud 16th man.
There is going to be plenty to do off the pitch as well. On arrival pick up your match day programme and head to one of the bars around the ground!
All ladies will be able to enjoy a complimentary glass of rose, thanks to The Eagle Brewery, from either the Blues Mini Trailer Bar or new Coffee & Cake Horsebox, kindly supported by Carter Sullivan. Both outlets are located on the northern terrace between the SDC Suite and Former Players Bar.
In the Blues Marquee, spectators will find a feast of additional treats with Beauty Treatments courtesy of 5th Avenue Hair and Beauty, Cakes from Crumbs, Blind Bear Wine and Gin Bar, plus the wonderful singer, Sophia Soul and MC Sam Roberts sharing the mic.
As always, the upstairs Eagle Bar will have its doors open and be providing a great selection of real ales; including Bedford’s own Eagle IPA or our guest ale; Marston’s Sweet Chariot!
There will be opportunities to get your hands on some exclusive prizes through the Blues auction and raffle, run by Macmillan volunteers. On top of all that there will be many fundraising games, a best-dressed lady competition and live Ladies Day shirt auction in the Marquee from 6pm.
For those wanting to raise some additional funds for charity, you will be able to return your Eco Cup to Macmillan outside the marquee post-match with your £1 directly donated from the club.
As the teams run out please give a loud cheer for this week’s Optimis Guard of Honour. This week to keep the Ladies Day theme against Ampthill, we will welcome the Junior Blues Girls section and Ampthill Girls section with over 60 young female rugby players in attendance from both clubs.
Don’t forget to pop into the Club Shop, located next to the marquee, to check out the Blues leisurewear range including the new home replica jersey. Or visit the online club shop here.
