Match Focus: Coventry in Festive Fixture
Bedford Blues are back in action at Goldington Road this Saturday 7th December against old rivals Coventry for the club’s festive fixture in the Championship Cup (KO 3pm).

Mike Rayer will be looking for his troops to bounce back and restore pride in the Bedford jersey in a Christmas clash versus the high-flying West Midlands outfit.
There is certainly plenty of history between the two clubs with Blues firmly hunting for bragging rights, with past results heavily against them. The fixture, first played in 1894, has gone the way of Bedford only 60 times, opposed to Coventry’s 108 wins in 179 games – the rest resulting in draws.
Sitting bottom of the Cup Pool, Bedford’s hopes of making the Quarter Final stage are somewhat distant (yet still mathematically possible). Yet a win would not only boost confidence, but also give the Blues the chance to top Ampthill in the group if they could beat the near neighbours next week.
Off the field, arrive early and secure your seat in one of our bars whilst mixing with fellow supporters and reading the match programme. Our meeting point would be the upstairs Eagle Bar for a pint of this week’s Guest Ale; Hobgoblin Ruby, Bedford’s own Eagle Brewery IPA or Greene King IPA.

Visit the new mini supporter village between the SDC Suite and Former Players on the north-east side of the ground. Spectators will this Saturday find our Trailer Bar, the new Coffee & Cake Horsebox and winter special; The Mulled Defender serving warm mulled wine and cider.
An added Christmas treat for hospitality guests and the Goldington Road faithful will see the return of Bedford’s own MC Sam Roberts on the mic to encourage the Blues’ strongest 16th man.
At half-time listen in as we make two charity presentations to Macmillan Cancer Support from Ladies Day and SoupFest 2019 respectively.
After the game visit the Blues Marquee for the Anglian Fasteners’ Man of the Match presentation, mix with players, enjoy a great selection of beers including Young’s Winter Warmer and listen to live music with the fantastic Leon Bratt.
