Covid-19 cuts 2019-20 season short
As a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, the 2019/20 Championship rugby season was brought to a premature end on 20th March 2020 following a Rugby Football Union meeting.
It was agreed that final standings for the Greene King IPA Championship and men’s and women’s community game would be calculated on a best playing record formula maintaining promotion and relegation for those leagues.
This meant Bedford Blues finished the 2019/20 campaign with 46.36 points in 8th position.
As a result Newcastle Falcons were promoted back to the Premiership, while Yorkshire Carnegie were relegated to National League One.
