A socially distanced evening with Mouritz Botha
Former international second row, Mouritz Botha joins us for a socially distanced Sportsman’s Dinner and night of entertainment at Goldington Road on Friday 13th November.
Recently named as a Blues Foundation Ambassador, Botha originally came to Bedford in the early 2000s to play for Bedford Athletic before signing for three seasons at the Blues between 2006-2009 and settling in the area.
He went on to play for Saracens, helping them achieve their first Premiership title in 2011 and earn himself 10 appearances for England. After a spell back in his native South Africa with the Sharks, he moved back to England to play for Newcastle Falcons before coaching spells with Germany and Ampthill.
Doors open on the night from 6pm with food served at 7pm and a Q&A with Botha just after 8pm ahead of carriages at 10pm.
Blues Chief Operating Officer, Gareth Alred will host the evening with friend Botha, as they regale stories of the past on the international’s rise from part-time amateur to playing every match of the 2012 Six Nations and everything in between, including a tour tale or two.
In line with our most recent COVID risk management plan, we are only able to accept bookings of six, with a maximum of 15 tables available. Tables are priced at £35 per person, including a two-course meal, and must be purchased IN ADVANCE. Click here to secure your table.
Peckish Festival Food will again provide the catering. The starter will consist of fiery sausages, halloumi fries and a dipping sauce; before the main course of house chicken burger and chips. Vegetarian options and other dietary requirements are available on request by contacting season@bedfordrugby.co.uk.
Included within the £35pp entrance fee will see a donation made to Blues Foundation, who are Botha’s chosen charity.
All food and drink will be table service only and face masks are to be worn on entry and when heading to the toilets, but can be removed whilst seated. To ensure safety to all staff and attendees, all payments will be CASHLESS. Access will only be allowed via the main Goldington Road entrance.
There are additional COVID related measures in place, including numerous hand sanitiser units and stations (condition of entry), random temperature checks on arrival, strict following of a one-way system plus other related regulations.
