Wrafter links up with Harlequins on loan spell

Posted: 13th November 2020

Bedford Blues loosehead prop Joe Wrafter will spend the opening weeks of the 2020/21 Gallagher Premiership season with Harlequins after agreeing a short-term loan deal with Paul Gustard’s side.

The 24-year old, who had spent the final weeks of last season training with Northampton Saints, has been drafted in to provide front row cover.

Wrafter will learn under the expert tutelage of Harlequins scrum coach; 95 cap Welsh international and Lions legend, Adam Jones who will bring great value to Wrafter’s development after a fantastic first season at Goldington Road.

A no-nonsense ball carrying prop forward, Wrafter was an ever present in the Blues matchday squad during his debut campaign last term, only missing one fixture in all competitions through injury and earning himself a contract extension.

Director of Rugby, Mike Rayer, said: “This is a great opportunity for Joe to get further experience and exposure in a Premiership environment and we are looking forward to seeing how he progresses and develops over the next few months.”

Quins’ season kicks off on Friday 20th November against reigning domestic and European champions, Exeter Chiefs.  We wish Joe all the best in hopefully making his Premiership debut.
