Forward trio re-commit to the Blues

Bedford Blues are pleased to announce a further three contract extensions in the forward pack ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Boasting over 200 cumulative appearances for the club; Jacob Fields, Oli Curry and Will Carrick Smith have been standout performers over recent seasons and have committed to the end of this current term.
The most recent member of the Goldington Road century club, Carrick Smith arrived ahead of the 2016/17 campaign from London Scottish and has since gone on to make 101 appearances, scoring three tries.
Now sponsored by Simply Tree Services, the 6’10” second rower has remained a consistent name in the match day squad, even when facing stiff competition at lock – forming strong partnerships with the likes of Mark Flanagan and Jordan Onojaife.
Fields, 27, sponsored by Hatters Fine Furnishings, is another of Bedford’s current longest serving players having arrived at Goldington Road in 2016, going on to make 75 appearances and scoring eight tries.
The hooker has faced stiff competition over the years for the number two jersey, battling with the likes of Charlie Clare, Tom Lindsay, George Edgson and others, but goes into his fifth season at the club as one of the team’s real leaders.
Curry, sponsored by Document Logistix, arrived at Bedford from Championship rivals Ealing Trailfinders ahead of the 2018/19 campaign and has become a mainstay in the match day squad ever since, going on to make 43 appearances and scoring two tries.
A former product of the London Irish academy, Curry, who has significant Championship experience with spells at Rotherham Titans and London Scottish whilst on loan, brings plenty of power to the Blues back row options.
