Match Focus: League leaders come to town
Bedford Blues return to Goldington Road this Friday night under the lights in the penultimate home fixture of the 2021 Championship season against league leaders Ealing Trailfinders (KO 19:45, Live Stream begins 19:25).

Big Game Preview
Following a positive performance last time out at another play-off chasing side, Doncaster Knights, Mike Rayer’s charges will be looking for back-to-back home wins while springing an upset on Ben Ward’s promotion hunting side.
Blues have won two of their three Goldington Road fixtures this campaign, picking up a losing bonus point in the other, and will be desperate to show further improvements before the season close.
After defeat at Saracens two weeks ago, Ealing know there’s little room for error in the final two rounds. They have destiny in their own hands, and host Doncaster next week, but will know the challenge Bedford can bring after suffering defeat at Goldington Road in 2019.
We’ve Met Before
Supporters may be surprised to know that this fixture started over 130 years ago, but a break of nine decades between the two has meant Bedford and Ealing have only met on 22 previous occasions.
Blues currently hold the superior record with 13 victories, while Ealing have won the remaining nine encounters. Bedford won the first 12 meetings, including the very first in a pulsating affair at Goldington Road on 31st January 1891 (3-0 win).
The tables have turned in recent years with Ealing having far the better of the Championship rivalry. Since October 2016, Trailfinders have won nine of the past ten meetings between the two sides.
