Episode 12 of the Championship Clubs Podcast is out now!

This week’s episode again has a very distinct Bedford Blues feel with another to have formerly worn the #BluesFamily jersey as this week’s featured guest; scrum-half Ian Vass.

Current Defence Coach at Premiership giants Northampton Saints, Vass is part of our illustrious century club having made 140 competitive appearances across two spells between 2005-06 and 2008-13, being part of the side to lift the Powergen Shield at Twickenham.

A highly experienced player and coach, Vass has also worked for Harlequins, Saracens, Stade Francais and Montpellier, bringing success wherever he’s been.

Looking at the Championship specifically, Vass’ personal connection to the division comes with Bedford, Saints and Harlequins; guiding Saints to the title in 2008 when they were last in the second-tier. He also won a Powergen Shield at Franklin’s Gardens and a Heineken Cup in his first spell when a Premiership outfit.

At Harlequins, he repeated the trick of a National Division 1 and Powergen Shield double, pipping Bedford in both competitions; plus success over the channel in France when wining the Pro 16.
