Geoff Comb steps down from the Board

Bedford Blues would like to place on record its thanks to Geoff Comb who decided to step down from the Board of Directors after six seasons service at the end of last month.

Joining ahead of the 2015/16 campaign, Comb has had a close working relationship with the management team of the club, supporting in areas around ground maintenance, health and safety, safeguarding and opposition hosting duties.

A former player, who made 31 first-team appearances between 1983-86, Comb has played an integral role at Bedford Blues in recent years. Whilst he stands down from the Board, Comb will continue to be a highly valued member of the wider team and contribute the certain areas of the club moving forward.

Away from rugby, Comb spent the majority of his career with Bedfordshire Police, operating at a senior command level holding roles including Senior Investigating Officer for major crime and Detective Chief Superintendent.

He also worked as Head of Security for Camelot, ensuring the integrity of the National Lottery, and was formerly CEO of the Bedfordshire Police Partnership Trust.

In recognition of his service, the Club have made Comb a life member of Bedford Blues Rugby Club and look forward to welcoming him and his family back to Goldington Road next season.

Geoff Comb added: “I’m forever grateful to the outgoing Chairman Geoff Irvine for inviting me back to Bedford Blues and onto the Board. The position has allowed me to reconnect with lots of old friends in the rugby fraternity and meet some great people along the way.

“I’ll continue to support the Board and management team in any way possible going forward, and thank everyone at Goldington Road for their support.”
