Wing duo remain for 2021/22 season
Bedford Blues are pleased to announce that wing duo Pat Tapley and Andre Robson have re-signed at Goldington Road ahead of the 2021/22 Championship campaign.
The longest serving current Blues player, Tapley, now sponsored by the FECCERS, is gearing up for his eighth season in Bedford having made 107 appearances and scored 52 tries.
Bedford’s joint top try scorer with Rich Lane and Josh Gillespie last season and outright winner in 2014/15, Tapley has also been included in the Championship Dream Team (2015/16) after a stellar campaign which included a memorable hat-trick against Richmond.
He joined the illustrious century club on the opening day of last season at Coventry, going on to make eight appearances in the shortened campaign, scoring four tries.
On committing his future to Bedford’s premier sporting club, Tapley said: “Bedford has become a second home for me since first arriving in 2013 and I’m delighted to be able to continue my stay for at least another season.
“I will always be thankful to Mike Rayer for giving me a chance to play for this prestigious club and his continuous support in the seasons which have followed.
“The #BluesFamily make this club what it is; we can’t wait to have you all back with us at Goldington Road next season. The atmosphere created against Ampthill was something the squad had missed, and we’d like to thank everyone for their unwavering support in the last 18 months.”
Robson, 20, sponsored by Blues Foundation, signed for the Blues in January ahead of the shortened campaign after a two-year injury lay-off as he made a successful return to the pitch, making four appearances from the bench in the latter part of the campaign.
The exciting youngster, a product of the Yorkshire Academy, will now continue his rugby development at Goldington Road as he eyes further minutes within Mike Rayer’s squad.
On signing, Robson said: “I’m delighted to commit further at Bedford Blues. I really enjoyed my first season at Goldington Road and will look to kick on now with a full campaign coming up.
“Having been injured for the two years prior, I always knew last season was going to be something of a transition which meant just a handful of appearances for me, but being back in an elite rugby environment and testing myself at a higher level was great.
“Thank you to the supporters, staff and players for making me feel so welcome – I’m looking forward to next season with crowds returning.”
