2021/22 Championship Fixture Announcement

The fixture weekends for the 2021/22 Championship season have been announced as Bedford Blues begin and end their campaign on the road, while Boxing Day rugby returns to Goldington Road.

Starting on the weekend of 18th September 2021, the 11 second tier clubs will return to playing each other home and away in a full campaign, producing 20 competitive matches over 22 league rounds. The team finishing atop of the Championship table will earn promotion to the Gallagher Premiership for the 2022/23 season (subject to meeting the minimum standards). Strict COVID testing and operational frameworks continue for elite sport.

Following a bye weekend first up, Bedford will open their Championship account with a trip to Stade Santander International to face Jersey Reds before beginning their home campaign with the visit of Doncaster Knights in Round Three.

Notable home fixtures throughout the season include the return fixture with Harvey Biljon’s Jersey on Boxing Day and a Bonfire Night Weekender with the visit of promotion hopefuls, Ealing Trailfinders.

Director of Rugby, Mike Rayer will hope to contest his 500th competitive match in charge of Bedford Blues on the final day of the campaign as we face the returning London Scottish at Richmond Athletic Ground.

During the season there will be seven reserve weeks and a new cup competition following the conclusion of the campaign; further details on this and pre-season fixtures will follow in due course.
