Lane and Worley sign on for another year

Bedford Blues are proud to announce that backs duo Rich Lane and Matt Worley have committed their immediate futures to the Club again by agreeing terms for the 2021/22 Championship campaign.
A local Bedford boy and one of three former Junior Blues to represent the club last season, Lane, generously sponsored by SDG Services, has committed to his fifth season at Goldington Road.
Leading the side for the majority of last season, the 27-year-old has made a total of 79 appearances, scoring 28 tries and finished last season as joint top try scorer. Lane has been in imperious form since his arrival and has become one of the Championship’s most exciting operators.
After agreeing to extend his stay, Lane said: “There’s a nucleus of players who have re-signed for next season which is massively important for knowing the ‘Blues Way’ and will be crucial for driving the culture within the group.
“It’ll be nice to have a longer season this time around to build new partnerships and relationships within the team. Hopefully we can play some really good stuff and entertain the crowd, we’ve really missed the #BluesFamily and hope to reward their support.”
Worley, 23, sponsored by Rawlinson Pryde and Partners, will be entering his third full season at Goldington Road having initially joined on loan from Northampton Saints midway through the 2018/19 campaign.
Making 32 appearances to date, scoring 10 tries, including a memorable score to seal victory in the Battle of Bedfordshire last May, Worley is delighted to sign on for another campaign.
He said: “I’m really excited to have re-signed at Bedford Blues. It was great to end last season with a victory as crowds returned to Goldington Road; hopefully we can take that momentum into next season to get us off to a good start.
“There’s a real buzz when GR is packed and we are playing our brand of rugby. It’ll be great to play in-front of everyone again next season.”
