Luke Frost joins Bedford Blues
Bedford Blues are pleased to announce further competition in the second row with the signing of highly rated Luke Frost from Nottingham.
The 23-year-old, sponsored by Eagle Brewery, has already played close to 50 appearances in the Championship and is looking forward to running out at Goldington Road in a Blues shirt.
Frost said: “I’m really excited to have signed here at Bedford. The big attractions are firstly the fans, and also the style of play.
“I always got quite nervous when I played against Bedford for London Scottish and more recently Nottingham. They were always capable of breaking from anywhere, such a dangerous team and I wanted to be a part of it.
“I’m fortunate to again be working with coaches with loads of experience in the Championship. Credit to Neil Fowkes who was able to teach me quite a few things about my game during my time at Nottingham, and now I’m really looking forward to working with Alex Rae.”
Starting his career in and around the London Irish set-up, Frost graduated from Loughborough University with a first-class degree in Sports and Exercise Science.
Stints with Loughborough Students in National One and in the BUCS League saw him join London Scottish upon the completion of his studies, where he unfortunately suffered a knee ligament injury midway through his debut campaign.
He came back firing in 2019/20 to finish as the club’s joint top try scorer to be named Coach’s Player of the Year. However, upon Scottish’s decision not to compete in the shortened 2021 campaign, he moved to Nottingham.
Starting all 10 games, including a starring role in victory over Bedford in May, Frost links up with the squad eager to continue his upward progression at Goldington Road, where he will also be working as a coach at Bedford School.
Head Coach, Alex Rae said: “Luke is another great signing for us. You only have to watch his game to see his characteristics – he’s a physical, hard-working, reliable Championship lock.
“His commitment to play for Nottingham last year was really commendable, considering a lot of lads sat it out. He showed great drive to progress and keep playing in those tough times and they’re traits we want in a player.
“I know I mention a lot about our environment here at Bedford, but Luke is another who can really kick on with us.”
