Big Game Preview
Mike Rayer will be looking for a strong start to pre-season preparations following a six-week block of pre-season training at Goldington Road.
The core Northampton Saints contingent for the upcoming campaign have now arrived and integrated back into training, full details on the list of players to be announced in conjunction with our Strategic Partners shortly.
Ampthill will be looking for a response following defeat to Richmond in their first pre-season outing last weekend, utilising 29 members of their squad before going down 26-7 at the RAG.
We’ve Met Before
Despite being just nine miles apart, fixtures between the two sides have been few and far between throughout history until Ampthill’s promotion to the Championship in 2019.
It means the two sides have met competitively on just four occasions, with Ampthill leading the history records by three wins to one. There have also been numerous friendlies between the sides and just like this season, last season there were two matches contested in pre-season with both sides winning a game apiece.
With crowds returning to Dillingham Park this weekend, both sides will be looking for early bragging rights which Blues currently hold after winning May’s league fixture 32-28 at Goldington Road.
