RFU Championship Strategic Review

Following July’s RFU Council Meeting confirming the Futures Competition Review, the first meeting of the RFU Championship Strategic Review took place yesterday with 12 representatives announced as the core working group.

Set to take place over the next four months and conclude before Christmas, the working group – which will also invite other representatives for input – are to meet regularly to review the structure, governance, commercial and financial models that underpin English rugby’s second-tier.

Following this period of consultation, recommendations will be put to the RFU Board and Council in early 2022, with the overall aim and objective of creating an improved, more sustainable Championship with a clear role and purpose.
