Second Row Williams joins Bedford Blues

Bedford Blues are delighted to announce the acquisition of second row Robin Williams from Welsh Premiership outfit RGC 1404.
The 22-year-old follows a well-trodden pathway from Welsh Premiership to English Championship as he looks to impress in a challenging competition following nearly 18 months without league rugby.
On joining the Club, Williams said: “I cannot wait to get started. When I spoke to the coaches, it was a no brainer – it already feels like a great, community club that’s really close to its supporters.
“Bedford is renowned for an attacking brand of rugby, but the focus for us forwards will also be on the set piece as well. Hopefully I can add to that and make an imprint on the team.”
Williams, sponsored by SDC Builders, has already made nearly 80 appearances for his home side, RGC, making his debut as a 17-year-old in 2017.
He was part of the side which secured the 2016/17 WRU National Cup in victory over Pontypridd at The Principality Stadium, alongside two top-four finishes in the Welsh Premiership.
Head Coach, Alex Rae said: “Robin is probably off the radar a little bit. He’s a young man, but he’s played a lot of games in the Welsh Premiership, which is a tough league – especially for a front five forward. That should set him in pretty good stead for us.
“Hopefully with hard work, Robin will be able to kick on and progress in his career. He’s got time to do that with us and we are confident he’ll do really well for Bedford.”
