MATCH FOCUS | Championship campaign begins
Bedford Blues begin their highly anticipated Championship campaign this weekend when travelling to early pace setters Jersey Reds on Saturday (KO 2:30pm).

Big Game Preview
Blues head into the game in confident mood following back-to-back victories to conclude pre-season, but will be fully aware of the challenge awaiting them in one of the toughest fixtures of the entire campaign, let alone opening weekend.
Mike Rayer’s side have trialled many new combinations with every player afforded valuable game time. There will be selection dilemmas aplenty for the coaching staff ahead of the full team announcement at midday on Friday.
Harvey Biljon’s Jersey host their first home Championship fixture of the campaign sat atop of the table following a resounding victory at London Scottish last weekend. Back row Guy Thompson – who re-joined from Ealing this summer – scored a hat-trick as part of the 47-7 victory.
We’ve Met Before
A relatively new league fixture with the first meeting between the two sides taking place less than a decade ago, Bedford and Jersey have faced each other on just 16 previous competitive occasions.
Jersey currently hold the better head-to-head record with nine victories compared to Bedford’s seven. It will be the first time Blues have made the trip since January 2019, while searching for their first victory on the Island since September 2017.
