MATCH FOCUS | NHS go Free as Knights ride into town
Bedford Blues contest their first home Championship fixture of the new campaign as Doncaster Knights ride into town under the Friday Night Lights (KO 7:45pm).

Big Game Preview
Mike Rayer’s charges head into the game looking to start their home campaign on the perfect footing, backed by the vocal #BluesFamily. Following a strong home record in the truncated Championship season, Blues will be looking to again make Goldington Road a fortress!
Steve Boden’s Doncaster Knights arrive with five points from two games, following defeat at Coventry on opening weekend and a commanding victory over London Scottish last time out. The Knights have assembled a strong squad with ambitions of competing for top spot, expect a stern test for both this Friday night.
We’ve Met Before
A relatively new fixture, yet not without its drama already; Bedford and Doncaster have met on 33 previous occasions. The Knights currently hold the superior head-to-head record with 17 victories to the Blues’ 14, while there have also been two draws.
Bedford won the first clash between the sides in September 2005 – Mike Rayer’s first home match as DoR – as Donny arrived in National One following a surge up the rugby pyramid. The most recent encounter at Goldington Road went the way of the Blues, a 29-5 success on 29th February 2020.
Food, Drink and Entertainment
Gates open from 5pm on Friday night, make sure to head into the ground early and sample everything we have to offer!
Our choice this week would be to grab a programme early and head to the Eagle Bar to try this week’s guest ale, Jennings Nightvision. Elsewhere get your usual favourites in The Scrum Bar, Former Players Bar and usual Trailer bars around the ground.
Visit the Mini Fan Village on the North Terrace to try our new Festival Bar, Coffee and Cake Horsebox and new Sweet Truck. The Blues Marquee will be open in game and post-match for the usual entertainment, this week from crowd favourite, Mark Calder.
Food kiosks available this week; The Bedford Barn on the halfway line, Peckish Festival Food serving hatch at The Burrow and The Burger Hut, just inside the main entrance. We remain hopeful Taylor’s Kitchen Hatch at the Scrum Bar will open, but they await final equipment deliveries held up due to haulage issues.
PLEASE NOTE: The Scrum Bar will close shortly before the final whistle due to this becoming a Red Zone area.
Hospitality
We look forward to welcoming Hospitality guests in The Blues Marquee, The Dovecote Park Suite, SDC Suite and The Burrow at the Blues.

Safety Briefing
All venues around Goldington Road will remain CASHLESS as part of our COVID risk management plan. Further safety precautions including a plentiful supply of hand sanitisers from stewards will be available on match day.
The Blues Club Shop will again open its doors from one hour before kick-off, at half-time and full-time. Please could only one person or household bubble enter at any one time.
Season Ticket Collection
For those who are yet to collect their Season Tickets, a collection point will again be available at Goldington Road. Please head to the gazebo located outside the main entrance. Alternatively, they are available to collect during normal office hours weekdays.
Match Day Ticketing
NHS Staff go free at Friday night’s fixture, simply show your NHS Card at the gate to receive entry into Goldington Road.
