Mike Rayer has named a 24-man squad ahead of tonight’s fixture with Northampton Saints.

Blues will be looking to kick off their home campaign with aplomb as they host neighbouring Premiership giants Northampton under the Goldington Road lights; the first meeting between the two clubs since March 2017.

Rayer’s side will be looking to continue building towards the 2021/22 Championship season following the 12-try thriller with Ampthill last weekend, while Chris Boyd’s charges contest their first pre-season outing ahead of returning to action in two weeks’ time.

Northampton have recalled Ollie Newman, Tom Litchfield, Dani Long-Martinez and Josh Gillespie ahead of the game and the quartet are all expected to feature in Black, Green and Gold this evening.

Forwards duo Jacob Fields (calf) and Robin Williams (elbow) remain out through injury, while Will Biggs and Callum Burns will also sit out tonight’s match.

Loosehead prop Joey Conway has recovered from his hamstring injury and is named within the squad, while Jamie Elliott continues to train with the club and will again feature.
