MATCH FOCUS | Blues looking for response at Hartpury
Bedford Blues will be looking for an immediate reaction from last weekend’s defeat to Richmond when they make the tough trip to take on an in-form Hartpury this Saturday (KO 3pm).

Big Game Preview
Mike Rayer’s side will be looking to break back into the Championship’s top four on Saturday after falling to sixth place last weekend, although still only four points off early pace setters, Ealing Trailfinders and Richmond.
Still playing catch up following a bye weekend first up, Blues travel to the West Country searching for back-to-back wins on the road for the first time since December 2018.
Hartpury head into the game as the favourites after three wins, including a 62-19 away victory at London Scottish and inspired home performances against Coventry and Cornish Pirates. They are currently unbeaten at home and will be determined to secure a rare victory over Rayer’s side.
We’ve Met Before
The newest fixture in the Championship, Blues have dominated encounters between the two sides since first meeting in November 2017. Rayer’s side have won seven of the eight meetings, although Hartpury’s solitary victory did come on Bedford’s last away trip back in March 2019.
On the other two occasions they’ve met at the University, a late try from Howard Packman secured victory in the first meeting, while the other was more of a scrum-fest as Blues narrowly edged through in difficult conditions.
