MATCH FOCUS | Old rivalries renew as Blues face Nottingham
Bedford Blues will look to return to winning ways and break back into the Championship’s top four when Nottingham head to Goldington Road this Saturday (KO 3pm).

Big Game Preview
Blues will wear their charity third kit for the first time in competitive action on Saturday, while looking for a much-needed victory in-front of the home faithful following tough encounters against the league’s early front runners, Ealing Trailfinders and Cornish Pirates.
Mike Rayer’s side remain the division’s second highest scorers with their continuing attacking play resulting in five Championship Try of the Week victories already this season. But as the festive period approaches, a string of victories are much needed to keep the pressure on the right end of the table.
Craig Hammond’s Nottingham charges are looking for their first away win of the season. Three home wins, including last time out against London Scottish, have given them a solid platform and they’ll be looking to leapfrog Bedford in the table at the weekend.
Charity Partners – Prostate Cancer UK
November is Men’s Health Month, so Bedford Blues are delighted to welcome representatives from Prostate Cancer UK to Goldington Road to further promote awareness about the most common type of cancer in men.
Volunteers will be around the ground with fundraising buckets if you would like to donate and help future research into a type of cancer which takes the lives of 11,500 people in the UK every year.
A raffle will also be hosted in the Marquee with some incredible prizes. Located next to the Marquee entrance, buy your tickets or return your eco-cups to the Charity Bin with all funds raised going to Prostate Cancer UK and join Sam Roberts post-match for the draw.
We’ve Met Before
A traditional rugby fixture between two historic sides; Bedford Blues and Nottingham have squared off against each other on 104 competitive occasions. Throughout history Bedford have dominated, excluding Nottingham’s 1980s heyday, registering 69 wins to Nottingham’s 32 with three draws.
The first meeting came nearly 130 years ago with a 25-0 Bedford victory on 25th November 1893. Nottingham currently hold the modern day bragging rights with victories in the last two meetings, both coming at Lady Bay.
Food, Drink and Entertainment
Gates open from midday on Saturday, make sure to head into the ground early and sample everything we have to offer! Our choice this week would be to grab a programme and head to the Eagle Bar to watch Arsenal v Newcastle United from lunchtime and try this week’s guest ale, Courage Best Bitter.
Elsewhere get your usual favourites in The Scrum Bar, Former Players Bar and Eagle Stand Hut around the ground. Visit the Mini Fan Village on the North Terrace to try our Coffee and Cake Horsebox, Trailer Bar or returning Sweet Truck.
The Blues Marquee is the place to be post-match for the usual entertainment, with live music from the returning Ellie Antonini, Man of the Match award with Sam Roberts and the raffle draw for Prostate Cancer UK.
There will be three Hot Food outlets available on matchday spread out across the ground; the Scrum Bar Serving Hatch, The Bedford Barn and The Burger Hut.
PLEASE NOTE: The Scrum Bar will close shortly before the final whistle due to this becoming a Red Zone area for the players.

All venues around Goldington Road will remain CASHLESS as part of our COVID risk management plan. Further safety precautions including a plentiful supply of hand sanitisers from stewards will be available on match day.

Saturday’s game affords the perfect opportunity to get some early Christmas presents sorted with the Blues Club Shop offering a variety of presents and stocking fillers, from replica shirts to rucksacks, beanie hats to keyrings. Open from one hour before kick-off, at half-time and full-time.
