Big Game Preview

Mike Rayer’s side will be looking to continue their imperious home form on Saturday following three successive victories in recent months, including the thrilling victory last time out in-front of a sell-out Boxing Day crowd against Jersey.

Ampthill will have league standings on their minds when making the short hop across the B530. The Mob are four points behind Bedford going into the weekend and will be looking for their first victory in three meetings between the two sides.

In action will be the Championship’s two leading marksmen so far this season. Will Maisey currently leads the way with 103 points, two clear of his opposite number, Russell Bennett.

Alongside several friendlies, Bedford Blues and Ampthill have met on five previous competitive occasions. Blues currently trail in the series, 3-2, but will aim to level the scores on Saturday.

New Year Feast of Sport

There’s no better base than Goldington Road for a full day of live sport as European rugby returns on the TVs as well as a mouth-watering tie in the Premier League. Before the main event, current champions Manchester City host second placed Chelsea as they look to go 13 points clear in the race for the title (KO 12:30pm).

Then there’s more rugby right the way through the evening with back-to-back showings of Connacht v Leicester Tigers, Exeter Chiefs v Glasgow Warriors and finally Bristol Bears v Stade Francais. All four matches will be available in both The Scrum Bar and Eagle Bar, alongside The Dovecote Park Suite for hospitality guests.

Food, Drink and Entertainment

Gates open from midday, head to the ground early and sample everything we have to offer! Why not grab a programme and visit one of our bars, with the added extra of this week’s guest ale, Banks’s Sunbeam available in The Eagle Bar.

Elsewhere, visit the Mini Fan Village on the North Terrace to try our Coffee and Cake Horsebox, Trailer Bar or returning Sweet Truck before getting set for the big match under the guidance of match day announcer, Sam Roberts.

Post-match, a new musician to Goldington Road; Dan Walder, plays in The Blues Marquee into the evening!

There will be three Hot Food outlets available on matchday spread out across the ground; the Scrum Bar Serving Hatch, The Bedford Barn and The Burger Hut.

REMINDER: The Scrum Bar will remain OPEN throughout the day and not close early like previous Championship matches.
