Bedford Blues will be hoping to spark a change of fortunes and send some shockwaves through the Championship when they head to league leaders, Ealing Trailfinders on Saturday (KO 3pm).

After a disappointing set of results since the turn of the year, Mike Rayer’s side are more determined than ever to secure a first victory since the Boxing Day classic with Jersey Reds at a sell-out Goldington Road.
Standing in their way will be the imperious league leaders, Ealing who last tasted defeat on home soil in a regular season Championship fixture way back on 21st December 2019. Ben Ward’s side are desperate for promotion to the Premiership at the end of the season but know any slip-ups could see that dream slip from their grasp.
We’ve Met Before
Supporters may be surprised to know that this fixture is one of the most historic ones in our club’s history, starting over 130 years ago. Although a break of nine decades means the two sides have only met on 24 previous occasions.
Blues currently hold the superior record with 13 victories, while Ealing have won the remaining eleven encounters in more recent times. Bedford won the first 12 meetings, including the very first at Goldington Road on 31st January 1891. Since October 2016, Trailfinders have won 11 of the past 12 between the two sides.
As well as trying to upset the form books, Blues will go in search of a first victory at Trailfinders Sports Club since October 2015 when a late Steffan Jones penalty secured a 23-21 away success.
