MATCH FOCUS | Blues looking to upset Pirates party

Following a triumphant performance at league leaders Ealing Trailfinders last weekend, Bedford Blues will be looking to use that momentum at Goldington Road as Cornish Pirates set sail on Saturday (KO 3pm).

Big Game Preview

Following a tough start to 2022, Bedford’s fortunes changed last weekend having secured a first victory at Vallis Way since October 2015 in the club’s only win since the turn of the year.

Mike Rayer’s men have played some of their best rugby on the road this campaign and will now be hoping to take that form into the remaining home matches to ensure a strong finish to the league season.

Cornish Pirates have been consistent throughout the campaign and boast the Championship’s meanest defence heading into the game. They’ve lost only twice and will be looking to capitalise on Ealing’s slip-up while still harbouring ambitions of topping the table.

Saturday will be the 42nd time the two sides have faced each other. Cornish Pirates currently hold the advantage with 23 victories, while Bedford have come out on top 17 times alongside one draw.
