TEAM NEWS | Six Changes for Final League Fixture

Posted: 18th March 2022

Mike Rayer has named his Bedford Blues team for the 500th time as they try to secure fifth position in the Championship table during their final league fixture of the campaign away at London Scottish tomorrow afternoon (KO 2:30pm).

A century’s worth of bragging rights will be up for grabs tomorrow with both clubs deadlocked on 38 wins apiece alongside three draws from 79 previous meetings; and the two sides will be looking for a strong finish to the league campaign to carry momentum over to the Championship Cup in April.

Ahead of a special day for the club, Rayer makes six changes including handing a first start to James Little at inside centre after an impressive debut cameo last weekend. Will Maisey also came off the bench against Coventry as part of his return from injury and is now deemed ready to start from the off tomorrow.

The final alteration in the backs division sees the rotation of the scrum half jersey continue with Alex Day preferred.

Among the forwards pack, there are a further three changes including Osman Dimen being handed the tighthead jersey. In the back row, Oli Stedman and Bailey Ransom return.

On his 50th appearance for the club, Joe Atkinson again deputises as captain.

For the first time since the opening day, Rayer has a fully fit squad to choose from with Corrie Barrett, Josh Pieterse and Jack Hughes back training this week and all named among the replacements tomorrow.

Due to Northampton Saints’ involvement in the Premiership Cup tomorrow away at Saracens, all dual-registration and loan players from the Franklin’s Gardens outfit have returned to their parent club for this weekend.

As a further part of our strategic partnership, Luke Frost is handed a fantastic opportunity to test himself with Northampton and will start from the off at The StoneX Stadium.
