TEAM NEWS | Eight changes for Nottingham
![]()
Mike Rayer has named his team as Bedford Blues go in search of a place in the Quarter Finals of the Championship Cup when they contest the second leg of their Round One tie with Nottingham tomorrow (KO 3pm).
The fourth meeting between the two sides this season, Blues head into the second leg with a 24-point advantage following a 38-14 victory at Lady Bay but know the tie is by no means finished with Nottingham looking for their first victory at Goldington Road since 2016.
Should Rayer’s side progress in the tie tomorrow, the home Quarter Final fixture will take place on Saturday 7th May with Ladies Day festivities returning to Goldington Road. To achieve that date and another important afternoon in Bedford, Blues will have to go hard tomorrow and Rayer makes eight changes ahead of the 108th meeting between the two sides.
Only two of those alterations come in the backs division as Ethan Grayson features for the first time since his stint at the U20s Six Nations with England, while Will Maisey also comes in at fly-half.
There is a full front row change as Oisin Heffernan returns at tighthead for the first time since the opening day of the season, while James Fish also comes back in for his first Blues appearance this term. Danny Hobbs-Awoyemi completes the front row.
In the second row, rotation continues with Robin Williams partnering Alex Woolford, while Luke Frost and Oli Stedman are restored to the back row.
