Dean Adamson remains for 2022/23
Bedford Blues are delighted to announce that homegrown winger and most recent inductee into the club’s illustrious hundred try club, Dean Adamson, is the first re-signing to remain at Goldington Road next season.
The 29-year-old, sponsored by Lousada Plc, is now set for his eighth Championship season as he looks to climb even further up the ladder as one of the club’s most lethal marksmen throughout history.
Graduating through the Blues Academy set-up, Adamson is currently joint 10th in the all-time list having scored 102 tries in 134 appearances since debut in 2014.
On putting pen to paper, Adamson said: “I’m really excited for next season. As a team, we need to build on last season and what we put into place to push on even further. It’s about putting greater consistency together, that’s the biggest challenge for us as a group.
“There was no other choice in my mind, I was always going to stay. This is the one club for me, there’s no place better to be on a Saturday at 3pm. The energy you get off the fans is the biggest thing for me and then the exciting brand of rugby we play which is instilled by Mike.
“The supporters are the heart and soul of this club, Bedford Blues is built on them and hopefully we can keep putting smiles on faces next season.
We’ve had a great year just gone and we need to build on what we put into place to push us on even further.
One of the league’s most proven finishers, Adamson was the top scoring back in the second-tier last term and was named in the Championship Team of the Season following 16 tries in 15 matches.
He added a further four in the Championship Cup to achieve 20 in a season for the second time.
In the 2017/18 campaign, he was named in The Rugby Paper’s Championship Dream Team when his season-best 22 tries that year helped Blues finish third in the table and reach the semi-finals of the British & Irish Cup.
Director of Rugby, Mike Rayer added: “Dean came back from France this time last year as a better player, which is a real credit to him, and he’s carried that trajectory on again this season.
“It was a COVID season out in France, but he made the most of it and brought a little bit extra back with him. His finishing is up there with the best we’ve seen and the figures back that up.
“He’s obviously very popular both on and off the field with our supporters and within the group as well. We’re really pleased he’ll be with us again next season.”
