Goldington Road to host Bedford Tigers opener

Bedford Blues will play host to a Betfred Women’s Super League South opener later this month as Bedford Tigers prepare to kick off their 2022 campaign against Bristol Golden Ferns on Sunday 22nd May (KO 14:30pm).

Tigers Women are competing in their second season of the flagship competition having been founding members upon the league’s creation in 2021.

Entrance to the fixture is completely free with The Scrum Bar open to all. Tigers are looking to set a new attendance record for the competition on the day so please come along and cheer on the team.

Normally based out of nearby Bedford Athletic RFC, Tigers also compete against London Broncos, British Army Rugby League, Cardiff Demons, Cornish Rebels and Oxford Cavaliers with fixtures right the way through into August.

This meeting will be the first time Bedford Tigers and Bristol Golden Ferns have faced each other.

Tigers Coach, Rob Ashton said: “We’re delighted to be working with Bedford Blues to ensure a showpiece event to begin our league campaign and there’s nowhere better to do that than at Goldington Road.

“Bedford is a real rugby town with great history and heritage. Hopefully we’ll be able to showcase rugby league on the day, while attempting to set our biggest attendance.
