Martina Sharp called up to Slovakia 7s

Bedford Blues and Bedford Blues Women are delighted to announce that wing Martina Sharp has been called up to the Slovakian 7s side for the upcoming Rugby Europe 7s Conference 1 campaign.

Hosted in Belgrade, Sharp will make her international tournament at the event held over 4-5 June in the Serbian capital. 

It completes a remarkable 12 months for Sharp who helped Bedford Blues Women win the NC3 Midlands (Central) Division in their debut season before also being called up to the East Midlands squad last month. 

Speaking after receiving her international call-up, Sharp said: "It's an honour to be asked to represent my country and I'm so grateful for the chance. Rugby has afforded me so many opportunities to be part of a community, opened doors and allowed me to acheive something for myself. 

"I would love to inspire women and girls like my daughter and promote women in sport, especially rugby, to a wider audience."

Bedford Blues Women Head Coach, Mark Stapley added: "Martina is an integral part of the team and always delivers a high level of rugby. We are extremely proud of her selection to both the East Midlands and Slovakian set-ups and knwo she will do well representing the club."
